And then I walked away from the benches, too.

And headed over toward the one and only thing I had previously been aware of that stood as a memorial to Apollo 1.

Just a small kiosk.

Like the rest of the tokens of rememberance out here, it is a humble thing, and in no way seeks to compete with the brutally overpowering aura of the pad itself.

It speaks for itself, says what it has to say, and says no more.

Look closely at the bottom right of the launch stand and and you can see wreath, potted plant, and plaque.

By this time I'm not sure if Sean was checking to see if I was going to be ok, or what it was he was doing.
